Once the largest US-based manufacturer of keyboard instruments, known by the slogan “America’s Favorite Piano”, the Baldwin Piano Company was founded in 1889 with the ambitious goal of manufacturing “the best piano that could be built”. The company’s first piano, an upright, began selling in 1891 and by 1973 Baldwin built its 1 millionth upright piano.
